Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanksgiving Weekend

Hello there 🙂

Let’s talk about Thanksgiving.

Canadian Thanksgiving occurring on the second Monday in October, which is usually a month earlier than the US one. We didn’t plan anything special, second consecutive year our friend’s family invited us to celebrate Thanksgiving with them. We had a really nice warm family dinner, ate delicious turkey, tasty pumpkin pie (traditional dessert on this day) and practiced our Spanish (most of the family speaks Spanish). For immigrants like us, it’s hard to celebrate national holidays(because we are still not used to it), usually, it’s friends meetings or a great way to escape the city for one more day. I have been in Canada for the past 6 years and I still open my presents on January 1st lol, not on a Christmas day. (Russian tradition even though I live in Canada)

However, the day before Thanksgiving, me and my boyfriend decided to host a Poker dinner. We invited our close friends and had a great warm night by playing this game. Some of us played the poker for the first time, so don’t consider us as professional players. It was fun to play, eat and talk. The main prize was fidget spinner lol.

Also, I prepared a light snack-base dinner when everyone can come and grab what they want.

Sweets, fruits, peanuts, cherry tomatoes, garlic bread and taco tarts.

Taco Tarts (some people on Instagram asked how did I make them). It’s super easy, fast and tasty. Great way to serve a large group of people.

What we need (perfect for 14-16 taco tarts):

– 2tbsp Oil

– 1lb Ground Beef

– 3tbsp Taco Seasoning

– 2 Tomatoes

– 1 pack of Large Flour Tortillas

– 1 pack of Cheddar Cheese

How to make:

Preheat the oven 375F/ 190C

Cook the beef for 15-20 min over medium-high heat until well browned, add taco seasoning and tomatoes. Set aside.

Cut each tortilla into 4 equal pieces. Use the cupcake pan and put the first layer of Tortilla on the bottom, add the layer of mixed beef plus sprinkle with cheese, add the second layer of tortilla, beef, and cheese.

Do the same process with every taco tart until you run out of the ingredients.  Bake for 18-20 min. You are ready to serve your tarts. Better to put them in the oven once your guests have arrived.

Gin Tonic with lime, lemon, and strawberries.

Do you host any special nights at your house?!  If yes, please share with me your recipes, ideas or suggestions.
